JACK AND THE BEANSTALK CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME DECEMBER 2011

The 16+ Department put on a fantastic performance of Jack and the Beanstalk for parents at the end of term. Bobby played Jack, Catherine played Jack's mum, Tim played the Giant and Farmer Jethro and Jenksy the cow were very convincing. It was a very unusual version of Jack and the Beanstalk and included characters such as Dr Who with his Alien friend, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Vampire, a Prom Queen, a Magic Man and even Del Boy showed up!

The Eco Group worked on the 'Eco Can Crusher'. The 16+ Eco-group worked with Martin Langner and Glen Downs on the design and production of a switch-operated can crusher. This will enable students to crush cans before placing them in the recycling bins. The students also chose and ordered the paint that they used to decorate the sides of the crusher.

16+ 'Stars in their Eyes'

16+ students were very excited as they chose which favourite pop star they would like to be and then made up their own performances and chose their own outfits to perform in front on their friends. Martin and Glen provided amazing special effects with a smoke machine, pyrotechnics, bubbles and coloured lights!

Various 'stars' took part including: Harry as Michael Jackson singing 'Bad'; Mary and Jodie as Jedward singing 'Under Pressure'; Andrew, Bobby, Ethan and Ryan as 'Take This' performing a routine to 'Shine' with spinning umbrellas; Hannah as Demi Lovato (Camp Rock) singing 'Different Summers' and Ebony as Cher Lloyd (X-Factor) singing 'It's a hard knock life'.

They were all winners and are stars in everyone's eyes!

OVER THE RAINBOW - On 11th December 2009 the whole school was treated to a panto extravaganza by the 16+ Department when they performed the Wizard of Oz. There were some fantastic performances, and the scenery, special effects and costumes were amazing. The show was closed by Hannah’s beautiful rendition of ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ which had the audience reaching for the tissues. The photos below hardly do any justice to it at all!

"Relationships are outstanding and students are motivated by interesting practical activities.... Students benefit greatly from the many opportunities that they have to develop independence and mobility, such as planning and taking part in visits."   (Ofsted Report - September 2009)
