The Old Scholars Association was formed very early in the School’s development to ensure that leaving school did not mean losing the security of its existence. There is an annual Old Scholars’ Day in May each year, when many come back to relive their memories. The day comprises of a service in the Chapel, then lunch and an AGM, but above all it’s a chance for a really good get-together. During lunch you will never fail to hear the older members telling spine-chilling stories of the harsh regime of their school-days, followed by gratitude for the independence those tough days achieved. For today’s Old Scholars that tough regime no longer exists; their needs are very different but the gratitude for independence achieved in today’s environment is there, none the less.
This year the Old Scholars' Reunion Day will be held on Saturday 14th May 2011 and the programme is as follows: 10.15 Arrival & Registration in the entrance lobby - tea/coffee in the staff room 12.00 Thanksgiving Service in St Martin's Chapel 13.00 Lunch in the 16+ Dining Room 14.15 AGM in the Dining Room 15.00 Speaker (Chris Dade, Par Project, Children's Society) 15.30 Afternoon tea and cakes 16.30 Departure
The committee handles a small fund available to all old scholars, with genuine needs and there is always help and advice available. The Association not only supports the pupils but gives the staff an opportunity to keep in touch with those with whom they worked for so long.
