The Secondary Department performed their Christmas Play 2011 'The Ramayana' for parents at the end of term.

The audience really enjoyed watching Thomas direct the play as class S1 acted the part of Hanuman, the Monkey King, class S2 played the people of Iodya, class S3 played the evil demon Ravana and class S4 played the Royal Family. Emma starred as Princess Sita, Christopher played Prince Rama, Ciaron played Prince Lakshman and Daniel played the Old King and Bharat.

Class S1 - In PSHE we found out about a charity that helps street children in Goa, India. We collected a big box of toys to send to Mango House and ran a cake stall to pay for the postage. We made posters to let everyone know about all the good work Mango House does to help street children.

Vocational Awareness Day – Monday 29th November 2010

The students from Susi Pollard and Jessica Coyer’s classes went to the Civic Centre in Uckfield for a Vocational Awareness Day. Everyone enjoyed meeting students and staff from other special needs schools and working in small groups with different people.

The introduction and music workshop were very popular as we got to try beat boxing by making different noises and playing a variety of different instruments (including banging broom sticks). We also took part in mock interviews; our students had prepared CVs and the Connexions interviewers were impressed by their social skills and the information they gave.

The other workshops involved decorating gingerbread biscuits and making Christmas decorations - quite messy but good fun.

The Mayor presented our certificates at the end of a busy day. All the students enjoyed shaking his hand and chatting to him.
