Occupational therapy is the treatment of the whole individual by their active participation in purposeful living. For the majority of children attending Chailey Heritage School independence and purposeful living starts with postural management and gaining the skills of controlling a switch. The use of a switch is the first step to accessing a computer, powered mobility, communication aids and environmental controls. Occupational therapists create and offer different ways of looking at everyday tasks such as eating and drinking, bathing, toileting and transportation.
