For pupils with sensory needs, touch cues and/or objects of reference may be used. Through consistently experiencing the feel of a specific human touch, or an object, pupils gradually learn to understand the connection between the tactile experience and the meaning behind the communication. For example, pupils feel their swimming costumes as a cue to the fact that it is time to go swimming.
