Dual Placements |
|
Chailey Heritage School has dedicated staff with responsibility for supporting dual-placements. We work with Local Education Authorities and mainstream schools to set up dual-placements for those pupils who will benefit from time spent both here and at a nominated mainstream school. Chailey Heritage School acts as lead school for dual-placements as they are able to manage and support the pupils and mainstream schools during and following transition. Dual placements are usually targeted at pupils who are within the broad range of average cognitive ability and have a good degree of independence in communication and mobility. These pupils are likely to need access to the specialised skills offered by the multidisciplinary team as outlined above. The mainstream schools will also benefit from the training and advice in this specialist area available at Chailey Heritage School and Chailey Heritage Clinical Services.
“The dual placements are successful because of the strong commitment of all the professionals involved in the large multidisciplinary team. The outstanding leadership in this area is demonstrated by the excellent co-ordination and responsiveness to needs as they arise………. The dual placements allow those learners who benefit from working within a larger peer group and mainstream setting to do so.” (Ofsted Report – May 2007) |
