What is the purpose of the Annual Review?

The purpose of the Annual Review is to make sure that at least once a year, the parents, the pupil, the (placing or ‘home) Local Education Authority, the School and all the professionals involved, monitor and evaluate the continued effectiveness and relevance of the provision set out in the Statement of Educational Needs.The Statement of Educational Needs should be looked at prior to the Annual Review meeting to ascertain whether the provision required has changed and a note of any changes to be discussed should be made. 

Who is invited to the Annual Review?

·         Child’s parent

·         Relevant teacher

·         Representative of the funding LEA

and wherever possible

·         the pupil

and where appropriate

·         Representatives of the Health Services

·         Representatives of Social Services

·         Other closely involved professionals

·         In the year of transfer – a representative from the receiving school. 

What is included in the Annual Review Report

·         The Annual Review report describes the pupil’s progress towards meeting the Statement Objectives.

·         It also includes a report from the Multidisciplinary Review which is a meeting held at Chailey Heritage Clinical Services about 5 weeks before the Annual Review meeting. The Multidisciplinary Review is a review of the pupil’s health and therapy issues and is chaired by a Consultant and attended by parents, the pupil, therapists, nurse and link or key worker from school.

·         Pupil’s views are included in the Annual Review report.

·         Parents are sent a contribution form about one month before the meeting to fill in and return to be included in the report.
