Training for Families

We offer informal training and discussion on a wide variety of topics to parents. Some of this is offered at informal coffee mornings, to help parents understand common issues, to support each other and most importantly to develop friendships. Some of the training sessions can be more formal.

Topics covered at present:

  • Measurement of physical abilities (Physiotherapy led).
  • Eating and drinking skills (Speech and Language Therapy led).
  • Sensory impairment (led by the Visual Impairment Coordinator).
  • Lifting and handling your child with cerebral palsy (Physiotherapy led).
  • The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and what it means to your child (Teacher led).
  • Intensive interaction (Teacher led).
  • Brothers and sisters of children with complex needs and what it is like for them (Counsellor led).

Courses:

  • Insiders guide to bringing up children with special needs – 5 sessions.
  • Signalong – 8 sessions.

We are always gathering ideas for training and awareness sessions that would be useful for  parents and families. Please let Chris Russell-Vick know if you have any ideas or suggestions: email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
